Mouldy.
The aim of advertising photography is to make people a certain way in order to make them buyers. To emphasise this feeling I took images of food that make you feel dirty, disgusting and despondent.
Shoot 6.
Whole project development.
This shoot I didn't originally plan to do, however after doing the other shoots I thought it would be a good idea to do a completely contrasting shoot to the ones I have already done. I am glad I decided to develop my project this way as it really shines through how a single image can make you feel a certain way, that in this case put you off the food, despite everyone being aware that food goes mouldy. I think this shoot proves that an image can sell a product through emotions, or in this case do the opposite.
Inspiration.
Contact Sheets.
I played around with the lighting a lot throughout this shoot, trying to capture the most detail of the mould.
Final images.
I edited these quite the opposite as I did to the rest of the images I have done. I did this purely because I wanted to get the opposite reactions, I wanted the images to be deep, dark with a high contrast so it makes you look closer into the image to capture the light, but whilst doing this you looking closer into the food.
Extra.
From a photographers point of view, images that are blurry, have bad lighting or badly composed can make your skin craw. As much as this is a bad thing, it gives you an emotional feeling, which is the intention of advertising photography, this is why I kept these images.
Development.
For the development I wanted to enhance the disgusting feeling that this mouldy food makes you feel. I played around with the food like you would if it wasn't mouldy, spreading it out, opening the outside of an avocado, putting it in the bin ect. This puts into perspective the strong feeling of innocence towards how disguising this work makes you feel.
