Sebastian Gil Miranda
In this images I can see a young boy who is playing football, due to his facial expressions we know that he feels passionate about this sport. The third image is called “ the right attitude is everything,” from the collection “shoot balls not guns.” The name doesn’t change the way I see the work because it was originally the attitude which made it clear to me that the young boy feels passionate. The picture is a realistic documentary that is in landscape format, this gave a wider angle opening up to more of a background, but due to the background mainly being white the young boy still stood out. Miranda has a simple colour palette, the background is white making the bright orange cones stand out, but also the young boys skin tone also makes him stand out. The composition of the images are symmetrical, due to the cones forming the goal and the young boy stood more or less in the middle of the goal. The football is the only thing that doesn't stick to the symmetrical lines, which creates a contrast forcing it to stand out. There is a lot of negative space in the images, this is effective as it helps the boy and the ball stand out even further, keeping your eyes in focus and not be distracted. The images are a natural snapshot of the boy playing football, its not been set up he is just caught in the moment. The work makes me laugh, because of his facial expression. But, it also makes me happy. Due to the formed goals from cones suggest that they boy lives in a country of poverty. The boy is having a good time still despite his world around him, he is happy escaping to this football world even though it isn't of any high quality. The compositions makes me feel content as it is symmetrical and fitting. I think that the artist is trying to say that you can do something you love despite the world around you, and you can escape and still have fun. I think the work has been made as documentary to expose the problems but also show the beauty of a hobbies.
My idea was to just spend some time with people who are doing their hobbies and then capture them whilst doing so, trying to make sure they don't know I am there. If the subject knew I was there their focus would be on how they look and the camera not their hobby so it wouldn't be a natural snapshot.

Final edit
I think I captured the natural connection people have with their hobbies. They all have a warm yellow tone with enhances the relationship and making u feel at home.
Development
I wanted to erase the object that makes the hobby obvious, too see if the hobby and the connection is still there. The development worked because you can still see the relationship people can form with a hobby that can escape them from the real world, which is the main object of the shoot.
